This storm will carry a significant amount of moisture that will produce widespread rain and high elevation snow from california through the great basin and into the northern rockies.
This precipitation will be very welcomed, especially in california due to the very dry nature of this winter.
The secondary effect from this storm will be the wind it will produce.
Wind advisories are posted for a wide swath of the west from the southwest through the northwest and parts of the intermountain west.
The strongest winds are expected in the higher elevations of the sierras and northern rockies.
Cold air behind the storm will cool many areas of the west.
Lower elevations of the northwest will cool into the 20s by wednesday morning.
In contrast, the rest of the country will be mostly dry as a high pressure along the eastern seaboard will keep any storms to the north.
Breezy conditions are anticipated from the southern plains through the upper midwest.
This will represent the most active weather in the eastern half of the country.
The northeast will rise into the 20s, 30s, and 40s, while the southeast will see temperatures in the 60s, 70s, and some 80s.
The plains will rise into the 70s and 80s, while the northwest will see temperatures int he 40s, 50s, and some 60s east of the cascades.
The southwest will rise into the 70s and 80s.
